Early Land Use - 1905
The city of Las Vegas was established in 1905 largely as a small railroad town. The railroad town was largely seen as a stopover establishment between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles for travelers and pioneers (1). In order to cater to these vast numbers of visitors traveling through Las Vegas, land use mainly consisted of construction for lodging and motels (2).
